Word Visualization

For my word I chose vague because I wanted to make the word very hard to read because that would symbolize the actual word. I chose a very pale grey color and made the outline of the letters a dashed line to make it harder to read.

Self Visualization

Here is my final project. I decided just to do one large piece that shows everything that I do with my hands. The piece measures 44 by 28 inches. My art/crafts are who I am, its what I do everyday and what I think about every minute. I wanted to explore Illustrator more with this project and enjoyed using it. The colors also represent me because those are some of my favorite colors because they are bright and bold.

Poem for book project

On Turning Ten

The whole idea of it make me feel
like I'm coming down down with something,
something worse than any stomach ache
or the headaches I get from reading in bad light--
a kind of measles of the spirit,
a mumps of the psyche,
a disfiguring chicken pox of the soul.

You tell me it is too early to be looking back,
but that is because you have forgotten
the perfect simplicity of being one
and the beautiful complexity introduced by two.
But I can lie on my bed and remember every digit.
At four I was an Arabian wizard.
I could make myself invisible
by drinking a glass of milk a certain way.
At seven I was a soldier, at nine a prince.

But now I am mostly at the window
watching the late afternoon light.
Back then it never fell so solemnly
against the side of my tree house,
and my bicycle never leaned against the garage
as it does today,
all the dark blue speed drained out of it.

This is the beginning of sadness, I say to myself,
as I walk through the universe in my sneakers.
It is time to say good-bye to my imaginary friends,
time to turn the first big number.

It seems only yesterday I used to believe
there was nothing under my skin but light.
If you cut me I could shine.
But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life,
I skin my knees. I bleed.

Billy Collins

This is the poem I chose for the book project, my original idea was to make the book shaped like a birthday cake and have the number of candles correspond to what age is described. On the pages I would simply illustrate what is being said.

Project 1: Final Illustrator Version

Here is my Illustrator version of Project 1. I wanted to use the same elements from the first picture so I just re-arranged them within the frame of the picture.

Concept for 2nd Project

For the next project I plan on using items that represent the things I like to do. I have taken some pictures of me that will be apart of a collage with those objects that represent me. I already have a layout in mind but it is hard to put into words. It will be a combination of photoshop and illustrator images. The project would consist of two maybe three final images.

Project 1 Final Photo

Here is my final photo..I changed the background to get rid of the man on the left side of the frame. I also added some cartoon characters to change the mood of the piece, also adding water coming out of the cup. The coloring page was changed from a marine theme to a princess page.
